Come ‘Think’ with us

The Inkwell invites everyone to our first staff meeting of the year at noon on Friday, Nov. 13, for an opportunity to meet reporters, photographers, illustrators and editors and get an idea of what AASU's official student newspaper is all about.

It's the best time of year to get involved and get informed.

Student-journalists get the best education—learning by doing. Unlike the staff of professional newspapers, college newspapers experience virtually a complete change of staff every school year, if not each semester. This gives us a unique ability to stay fresh and relevant while providing real growth opportunities for those who have drive.

The Inkwell will always need ethical, responsible and motivated students who are willing to hit the ground running to get accurate information out to readers.

Photographers capture the important moments and can sometimes tell a story without writing a word.

And illustrators bring out the comic or tragic side of editorial viewpoints.

Arts & Entertainment Editor Joseph Peters will give a short class highlighting some reporting and writing tips he and News Editor Carmen Singleton learned at the Associated Collegiate Press convention in Austin, Texas, earlier this month.

We'll also recognize staff members who have made The Inkwell stand out so far this semester, but overall, the meeting is a chance for all the staff members to get to know everyone else and to invite anyone interested to come and find out more.

Come make your voice heard.

Think. Get involved. Get informed.
